How much tech do you need to know to start a tech company?

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

Considering where I am today – Surprisingly little!

No-code tech, Containerization, and Serverless Technologies have completely changed the requirements for building tech.

If you can think it,
You can build it.

When I started Visbanking, I didn’t lock myself in a closet for a year to learn the ins and outs of computer languages and how binary works so that I could scrape the web for data…

I just had to understand enough to know what was possible, and what questions to ask.

Then I communicated a vision. Communicated to those with cutting edge skillsets.

I have a limited understanding of how servers, encryption, or APIs work.
I just use them.

Containerization and APIs allows me to think of something we would like to add to the product, then buy it from someone else…

We don’t even have the OPTION to see how it works.
We just buy a fully functioning product/feature.
Many of these APIs or services are a black box to us.

It’s understanding the big picture of WHAT IT DOES that’s important (and, how your customer will use WHAT IT DOES).

HOW IT WORKS doesn’t really matter.

Have you identified a market need but lack of technological know-how is keeping you from building?

You might need to think again.
